Donate Art

It is time to start thinking about Art Now for Autism 2009! We are making big changes this year! We are changing from a month long exhibit to a two week reverse auction. It's the new and improved Art Now for Autism!

Deadline for submissions is September 1, 2009.
See below for details on donating art.

Preview of exhibit is October 1 - 4, 2009
Art exhibit will be open online at www.artnowforautism.com.
All work will be viewable but not on sale yet.

Reverse Auction - October 5 - 10, 2009
Everything starts at the same price with price cuts every two days.
It is an auction in reverse!
Day 1 & 2 - All art is $90.
Day 3 & 4 - All art is $60.
Day 5 & 6 - All art is $30
.

All money raised through the sale of art will be donated to Autism Speaks through the Washington, DC Walk Now for Autism on October 31, 2009.

Call for Art
All art is welcome. Painting, drawing, photography, collage, mixed media, book arts, jewelry, fiber, crafts, etc. Artwork does not need to be related to autism. There is no size limit but keep in mind that you will have to mail it. Frames and mattes are optional.

  • If your work usually sells for a lot more than the reverse auction pricing, consider donating a smaller piece or a print.
  • If your work is usually priced lower than the reverse auction pricing (such as ATC's, ornaments, jewelry, etc.), consider donating a group of items as a set. For instance, 4 ornaments or a bracelet and earring set.

The organizer of Art Now for Autism, Claudine Intner, reserves the right to refuse any piece of art because of poor workmanship or offensive subject matter.

Artists are asked to submit digital images of their donated piece. If the piece sells, the artist will be responsible for shipping the sold work to the buyer. The artist will be responsible for the cost of shipping. Once the buyer has paid for the art, Claudine will provide shipping information to the artist. Artists are encouraged to pack their artwork very carefully and insure the package.

Submitting Art
To participate, send digital images of your art donations to artnow@artnowforautism.com. Digital images should be at least 500 pixels in each directions. Files should be no larger than 3MB each. Additional images showing alternate views of the piece and/or details are welcome. Images of art must be received by September 1, 2009. This will give us time to create the online exhibit, publicity materials, and new items in the Cafe Press shop.

Please submit the following information in your email along with your image.

  • Artist's Name
  • Title
  • Medium (For 2-D work, please include the substrate such as paper, canvas, board, etc.)
  • Size
  • Mailing address
  • Website
  • Email address
  • Brief artist statement about the piece and/or artist and/or why you participated in Art Now for Autism(optional but strongly recommended as it does help sell work)

Fees
There is no fee to be in this show. Money from the sale of art will go directly to Autism Speaks. If you like, you can make a donation online here.

Please drop me an email if you are planning to participate or if you have any questions. I will be adding a list of participating artists to the home page. THANK YOU!
